The user can perform a Reload Cancel 1.9 seconds into either reload animation. The AUG's reload speed is somewhat sluggish, taking 2.6 seconds to reload the magazine, or 3.05 seconds if the magazine was completely empty. The Famas has poor handling characteristics between a larger hip-fire spread and an aim down sight time that's on par with the LMGs, whereas the AUG is standard fare for an assault rifle. These are the AUG's greatest strengths over the Famas. The AUG allows users to move at 95% of the base speed, strafe at 40% of the base speed, aim down the sight in 250 milliseconds, and the AUG has average hip-fire accuracy. The AUG's handling characteristics are standard among assault rifles. This accuracy deficiency holds the AUG back when compared to the Famas, as the Famas has much lower recoil to the left, making the Famas' recoil both easier to control and more predictable. The AUG combines an elevated rate of fire with a less predictable recoil profile, and as a result, the AUG is the least accurate of the fully automatic assault rifles. The centerspeed is nothing special either, resting at 1500. The AUG in net will kick upwards, but the AUG will also cause the user's aim to skip around horizontally. The AUG has a recoil value of 60 to the left, to the right, and upwards, and a recoil value of 30 downwards. The iron sights are very clean, but the recoil profile is rather uncomfortable. This rate of fire, combined with the AUG's three hit kill capability, makes the AUG one of the best close quarters weapons in the game, and it makes the AUG extremely competitive at ranges where the AUG gets three hit kills.
The AUG compensates for the lesser damage profile with a best in-class rate of fire, tied with the Famas at 937.5 RPM. The AUG's damage deficiency will rarely be an issue. Overall, despite having the worst damage profile in-class, the AUG's three hit kill range is very good, and it remains a 3 to 4 hit kill at all ranges in Core game types. The AUG also has medium penetration power. A headshot will only reduce the shots to kill at ranges where the AUG is either a four hit kill, or a two hit kill in Hardcore, as the AUG is incapable of a two hit kill to the head. The AUG's three hit kill range stops at roughly 39 meters, and the AUG's one hit kill range in Hardcore game types is roughly 43 meters. At any range past fifty meters, the AUG will deal 25 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. Damage decreases linearly until fifty meters. At any range short of 37.5 meters, the AUG will deal 35 damage per bullet, needing three hits to kill. The AUG is tied with the Famas, Enfield, and G11 for the worst damage profile among assault rifles. The AUG is the 6th Assault Rifle unlocked, at level 26. It is the signature weapon of Grigori Weaver. A single AUG, identical to those carried by the team but lacks a suppressor, can be found lying on the ground in the room after the first window breach.
The AUG is the default weapon used by Hudson and all the members of the CIA in " WMD", equipped with a Suppressor, a Swarovski Scope, and a unique Yukon camouflage.
